In the look for a Smart-City case study in the Middle-East, I have been attracted soon by Tel Aviv. Of course for its vibrant startup scene, since I aim to build a professional network in urban innovation at the same time than writing my PhD Thesis, but apart from that, I saw this travel in Israel as a personal opportunity to visit some Biblical sites.

Paradise on earth for the archaeologists, Holy Land for the Jews, Christians and Muslims, the eastern coast of Mediterranean sea, is considered as a cradle of civilizations in the Middle-East*. At the crossroad of Asian, African and European migrations from the dawn of times, Israel is also of essential importance for the social scientists : most of the oldest inhabited cities of the human history are located in this part of the globe, and have seen the human populations evolve along the time.

The Jewish people, firstly mentioned in 1200 BC as the descendants of Abraham, Jacob and Israel have a tumultuous history of advents and defeats for more than 3 millennia, scattered in all corners of the world awaiting for the time to be able to come back in the Land of their ancestors, as promised by God according to the sacred texts of the Bible. A promise nowadays covered by the State of Israel which gives every Jew and its family, the right to come and live in Israel and to gain the Israeli…
