TAIPEI MONOGRAPH: Chinese civilization, the particularities of Taiwan, and Taipei City.

After a business trip with the EUTEC, to pitch my startup OpenPi in China last January, I was really interested in coming back in Asia, stay longer and learn more about this fascinating culture. As the French philosopher Pascal (1623–1662) answered at the question: Who’s the most trustable, Moses or China ? “China obscures the issue, but there is light to be found. Look for it.”

I just arrived in Taipei at the end of September 2019, having in mind to spend four month here to study the Chinese culture and write an in-depth analysis of Taipei city on my topic: “Stakeholder engagement in Smart-City”. What means: collaborative decision-making processes, leaned on both analog and digital solutions, to engage inhabitants in urban planning at a local scale. Some months ago, I already identified a major civic-hacking key partner based in Taiwan: g0v.tw provides a very interesting work on which I already wrote a first survey study some months ago “GRASSROOTS MOVEMENTS: The motivation of American, Taiwanese and Russian Civic-Hackers compared”.
