SMART-CITY: Key Success Factors

In view of the scarcity of scientific research on Smart-Cities and their users, political decision-makers and economics do not hold all the keys to understand success or failure factors of these projects. This article aims to contribute spreading advices and good practices, collected by survey research to the experts network of the RIL - Suomen Rakennusinsinöörien Liitto (Finnish Association of Civil Engineers). Many thanks to Miimu Airaksinen for her caring welcome and her motivation to see this study happen.

Kalasatama District in Helsinki, Finland is under construction and plans to welcome 25,000 inhabitants by 2025.

Goals :

Key Success Factors can be perceived as a description of the major skills and resources required to be successful in a given market. This study aims to identify which factors can be considered as essential to a go-to-market strategy for Smart-City projects.

This survey research puts emphasis on subjective methods and its results would need to be strengthened by being confronted to objective datas on the urban projects in question.
